Job Description
|
Our client offers a comprehensive, scalable suite of innovative COBOL development environments. They provide a bridge between COBOL and Java, offer fast migrations to new platforms, innovative ways to reuse existing assets and Web Services.
Their development teams work on a very broad range of technologies and languages.
Languages include COBOL, Java, C, C# and C++. The products are developed for latest Windows Operating systems including .NET and all leading UNIX platforms.
There are several teams each with specialised skills, including language parsing/compiler technology, IDE, middleware/ communications and database.
Your overall responsibility will be to test their leading edge IDE products to ensure the product quality and usability is of the highest standard across all supported platforms. The role will include the design, automation, maintenance and implementation of test systems, maintaining and enhancing the test infrastructure and working with the development teams to improve their test coverage.
Automation is a key element of this role, so the ability to understand the product under test and provide suitable testing mechanisms is essential.
You will require strong problem identification and investigation skills to be able to reproduce and cut down issues for development investigation. |
Candidate Requirements

Requirements
Education to Degree Level or equivalent – ideally Computer Science or similar subject.
Previous proven technical experience in software testing.

Technical Skills
Solid and demonstrable experience in planning, implementing and maintaining testing infrastructures and extensive test suites.
Experience of agile development methodologies, Continuous Integration and regression testing
Wide range of platforms, including Windows, Unix, Linux,
Experience of testing GUI’s highly advantageous.
A natural problem solver who will resolve complex technical issues with the ability to stay calm and focused under pressure. |
