Our client is looking to recruit two IT Systems Support Engineers to join their existing team providing specialist operations support on a customer site; this is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic candidate keen to develop new skills and be part of successful team.

The role will include programming, script manipulation and software development to implement new capabilities; scripting and software diagnosis to enhance and support existing features, training for users on specialist software applications.

You will be responsible for installation, commissioning, support, change management and system upgrades to IT hardware and software utilised on client sites throughout the UK and overseas.

Specific skills include networking (routers / hubs / switches), security (encryption / VPN), basic scripting (PERL or similar) as well as exposure to Windows and Linux OS’s.

Candidate Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

Scripting - within this role the candidate will have exposure to TCL, Perl, Java, Shell scripting, HTTP/XML
Supporting various operating systems (HP-UK, Linux, Windows 2000/NT) on a variety of platforms including HP workstations and Dell servers
Installation and management of network cabling and associated equipment
Maintenance and updating of all systems documentation, including producing written investigation reports
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues

Must have a full UK driving licence - essential

This role also provides support as part of an out of hour’s response team (to include evenings and weekends) - to support this the candidate has had to have exposure to Cisco Pixs, Checkpoint Firewall and Apache. For this reason it would also be preferred that candidates live close to Farnborough, Hampshire.

Salary Range:
£26k rising to £28k upon completion of training
